Live theatre is back in Northeast Ohio. With the restrictions on the theatre world lessened after the year’s craziness from the COVID pandemic, the return of live musical theatre marks a sense of normalcy for lovers of the arts across the globe. In Ashtabula, Ohio, the Ashtabula Arts Center’s Straw Hat Theatre just completed a two weekend run of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown that was a smashing success.
With a cast of 7 students, all ranging from age 10 to 12, Director Mary Ann Kline was able to put together a fantastic show with this group of All-Star talent. After attending one of the shows, former American Idol contestant Tank Jackson posted on Facebook, “so many things going on during certain sections of this show musically that it’s hard for adults to nail but even so these children did!” And Tank was right as the cast nailed four-part harmonies and solos alike with the skills of seasoned professionals.
The shows was on thrust stage of the Straw Hat Theatre and August 13-15 and 20-22 as multiple sellout crowds were recorded despite the public’s continued caution about being social once again after the main phase of the pandemic.
