COVID is no longer slowing down the Ashtabula Arts Center as the students, actors and staff are masked and the schedule is filling up. According to their Website and Newsletter, the AAC has three major productions in the works, set for February, March and April of 2022, respectively. Of course this all comes on the heels of the January performances of Matilda The Musical which closes this weekend. Here is a quick look at what to expect in the coming months:
The Secret Garden – Musical – The Secret Garden opens on February 11th and will have a 3-weekend run at the AAC. Casting was completed by Director Stephen Rhodes in October for this beautifully musical show based on the 1911 novel of the same name by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
James & the Giant Peach, Jr. – Youth Musical – The Youth Theater Production Class will perform James & the Giant Peach, Jr. March 11-13 and 18-20, directed by Kimberly Godfrey-Warren. Casting was completed and practices begin this week for musical based on Roald Dahl’s 1961 children’s book.
Puffs – Straight Play – Puffs, aka “Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic,” is an original play written by Matt Cox and will be performed during the weekends of April 1-3 and 8-10 and Directed by Ave Warren.
