“Into the Woods” is a popular musical by Stephen Sondheim that intertwines the plots of several well-known fairy tales, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack and the Beanstalk. In July and August of 2023, the Ohio University Lancaster Theatre is set to put this entertaining production on.

The musical follows the story of a Baker and his wife who venture into the woods to find objects necessary to lift a curse that prevents them from having children. Along the way, they encounter various fairy tale characters, each with their own desires and motivations.

As the story progresses, the characters’ paths become increasingly intertwined, leading to unexpected twists and turns. The musical explores themes of desire, consequences, and the pursuit of happiness.

Local productions of “Into the Woods” often showcase talented singers and actors, intricate sets and costumes, and memorable songs such as “Agony,” “No One Is Alone,” and “Into the Woods.” With the talented cast of singers and actors shown on the poster graphic, the Ohio University Lancaster Theatre is sure to put on a good show.
