“Descendants” is a popular musical that takes place in the magical kingdom of Auradon. The story follows the lives of the teenage children of infamous Disney villains such as Maleficent, Jafar, and the Evil Queen, who are given the chance to attend school in Auradon alongside the children of the kingdom’s heroes. In the Borough of Brentwood in the Pittsburgh area, Disney’s Descendants is set to hit the stage April 20-22.
The musical is filled with catchy songs and exciting dance numbers, including “Rotten to the Core,” “Set It Off,” and “Chillin’ Like a Villain.” The production also features elaborate costumes like those seen in a 2022 production of the show, and sets that transport audiences to the fantastical world of Auradon.
The characters are dynamic and relatable, with the lead roles of Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay representing the complexities of teenage life, rebellion, and identity. The supporting cast, including the hilarious Fairy Godmother and the charming Prince Ben, add depth and humor to the show.
With a talented cast of high school performers, “Descendants” promises to be a fun and entertaining musical that will leave audiences cheering for the “villains” and rooting for their happily ever afters. The show also offers a message of acceptance, inclusivity, and the importance of being true to oneself.
